2025: A Dominant's Reflection
By Aidan Sunassee · December 31, 2025 · 3 min read · Reflections
A reflection on the past year. On growth, unfinished edges, and the responsibility of being trusted. Big shoes to fill, and yet I know they are my own. I'll meet myself again next year and we'll find our way there.
This year stripped me down to the bone.
In the moments where authority had no audience and care had no applause, I learned where my Dominance is real, and where it is still aspirational. Where I stand steady. Where I hesitate. Where I must grow.
To lead is not to be finished. It is to remain accountable to one's own shadow. I am still becoming, and that does not weaken my hand. If anything, I truly believe it steadies it.
There were moments this year where I felt unready. Moments where I saw my own limitations too clearly to ignore them. And yet, what surprised me most was not how much I still have to grow, but how little that realization weakened me.
Suddenly, I saw my own unfinished edges more clearly than I ever had before. The impulse to over-carry. The instinct to remain silent instead of vulnerable. The temptation to mistake endurance for virtue. I like to think that those are not failures in the simple sense. They are the private battlegrounds of anyone who takes responsibility for others seriously. This year forced me to stop romanticizing those patterns and start reckoning with them.
What I am learning to embody now is not certainty. I aspire to a Dominance that does not rush to control discomfort, but can sit with it long enough to understand it. A leadership that is less concerned with being impressive and more concerned with being trustworthy. Less reactive. Less performative. More... exacting. More present.
This year, once again, being in power dynamic relationships taught me something I will not forget: when someone chooses to follow me, they are risking themselves. They are allowing my words, my steadiness, my judgment to matter in ways that can shape them long after the moment passes. That is not something I am entitled to, but something I know to deserve, again and again, by growing into myself day by day.
There were moments where I felt the sheer gravity of that trust press against my chest. Moments where I understood that the greatest danger is not misusing power out of malice, but mishandling it out of exhaustion.
I have also witnessed once again, with painful clarity, how much strength submission actually requires. How much courage it takes to let yourself be seen, guided, shaped, held. To trust another person enough to follow their lead honestly is not submission born of ease. It is submission born of bravery, and bravery is not something I take lightly. It is something I bow to, and something I carry with me.
If there is one thing this year reinforced, it is that Dominance is about guidance. About stability. About becoming someone worth trusting with another human being's vulnerability, and about continuing to earn that trust, long after the moment of choosing has passed.
With this, I am still learning how to hold power without letting it harden me. If I take anything into the next year, I think that may be it. That, and the simple act of being grateful for whatever else does come with it.
And speaking of gratitude — I am grateful beyond words for the ones I call my own, who have walked beside me this year, who saw me clearly enough to follow.
That kind of trust changes you.
It sure makes me a better man.

Purging Media - A One-Week Check-In
Reflections · October 7, 2026
I had Charlie strip out all his media use. Yes, all of it. Videos, shows, audiobooks, music... Okay, there are some exceptions, as you'll see below, but the good majority of it is gone. A lot has changed recently, and I'm sure we'll catch you all up in a future article, but this has been one of the biggest changes in our dynamic. Read up if you're curious about his experience facing his thoughts with no distractions...

A Submissive’s Review of “Pillion” - A Gay BDSM Movie
Reflections · July 17, 2026
Pillion. We've got a lot of opinions on Ray, yes, but what does a submissive think about him? How does a submissive interpret the movie's plot? Well, lucky me (and you, by extension), I've got one who can talk about it. So without further adue, I present Charlie's review of Pillion. Which I posted late. Again.
Charlie’s New Year Reflection (In April)
Reflections · April 27, 2026
A long (and late) end-of-year reflection by Charlie. This was written on time, but it took me much too long to upload it. That is entirely on me, but better late than never, hm? Here, Charlie reflects on his submission, his move to Europe, giving up bodily control, the highs and lows, moments of cozy comfort, and absolute insanity that 2025 brought us. So... Happy New Year?
A Look Inside A Submissive’s Notebook
Reflections · April 27, 2026
In this article, Charlie describes a new addition to protocol: a notebook! When both Dom and sub are eternally busy, finding ways to connect to the dynamic even when we're both stuck to our desks for hours at a time becomes increasingly important. One of the ways we've found quite helpful is using a notebook in which plans, goals, and little notes can be exchanged back and forth, helping us track progress throughout the day and assign (and keep track of!) tasks more efficiently.
Why I Cannot Call Dominance a Choice: A Reflection on Kink and Identity
Reflections · September 12, 2025
This piece is a reflection on how I came to understand my dominance as more than a sexual preference, a hobby, or a role, but as part of who I am. It traces the pull toward structure, responsibility, and chosen order that has always shaped how I connect and love.
